Since I've Been Loving Elvgren

I am totally in 'lurve' with this lovely new book I bought from Polyester on Bruswick St....
Ooooh and here is the link, http://www.polyester.com.au/.

Its titled 'Gil Elvgren-The Complete Pin-ups', and I got it for a sweet $39.95 (yes, bargin)!
Apart from 100's of cute pin-up prints from the 1930s to the 1970s, its also chocka-block of juicy deets about the life of 'the' most important pin-up and glamour artist of the twentieth century, Gil Elvgren.

Cute Little Cosmo

I have a brand spanking new nephew, yay, called Zack, and seeings though I still hadnt fired up 'eleanor' (my new elna) I thought what better time to get crafty and make something special for the new little man to say 'Hello. Welcome To The World!'.

I used a pattern from the book 'Softies' by Ellen Box (http://www.bonspielcreation.com/) and made him abit more personal for little Zack by adding a lightning bolt and a Z. Trent suggested we should make him make some kind of noise, so we put some bells inside a kinder surprise plastic egg, and put it in the polyfill inside this little cosmo's body, so now it makes a great rattle sound.
He makes me smile everytime I look over at him :)

I'm Exhausted From Stimulating The Economy!

Wowee...what a great little weekend! I got some great buys today at Camberwell Market and also in the city, I went back to the bead shop in the city (at Melbourne Central) and grabbed myself some more earrings (and of course a few pairs for my sister!!). I also got some great buttons from the market, im going to file down the back of them and turn them into earrings. Here's a little sneak peek at my new additions :)

Welcome Eleanor!

Well...there's a new little addition to my happy little household. Elna, my new sewing machine. Ive renamed her 'Eleanor', she deserves it! Now all I need is to find a little possie for her, and a sewing table. Its been so long since I used a sewing machine, I cant even remember how to thread it up!! Guess my night might be spent reading the manual....hmmmm...now thats a big friday night! ha. Any tips?

Pretty Little Ones

I bought these earings a few weeks ago on an 'impulse' buying kind of day, from a beading shop in the city for a bargin price. But...alas...they're clip ons, and I havent worn them yet, so im thinking of selling them on ebay. I know they'll look dangerously wonderful on the right person!

Ive only just realised how many lovely earrings and necklaces I have hiding in my bathroom cabinet, and unpacked luggage from trips long gone! What to do with things you havent worn for longer than you can remember? Im thinking of attempting some conversions, earrings made into badges or 'implanted' into a bag or wallet....looks like a new little project for my crafty mondays!
Ive had such a wonderful weekend, so many yummy coffees and lots of snuggles, im scared of going to bed because that will mean the weekend is OFFICIALLY over....booooooo....but its 12.30 and I can hear someone snoring...I think the time has come :)

Shake Shake Shake

A recent (but bound to stick around for a while) little obsession of mine is old salt & pepper shakers, especially bird sets. Im trying to build a little bit of a collection, though im too scared to use any of them incase they get hurt!

My favorite's so far are my little 1950's green robin (which my fantastic little husband got me for my birthday last year), and a pair of cockatoo's (well....atleast I think thats what they are!?).

I LOVE SUNDAYS........hard.
It seems to be the day I have most luck in finding little bits and pieces at markets/2nd hand stores/vintage stores etc. Today I bought these mushroom shakers from Lost & Found market in Smith St Collingwood, theyre still in their original packaging, I wish I knew abit about their story - where they came from? who they were bought for? and why the heck they havent been opened yet!! Very interesting little fungi's indeed
