Paper Cut

Meet The wonderful Rob Ryan
He also has a lovely lovely etsy store, and if you are lucky enough to live in Melbourne you can find his beautiful cards for sale at Coventry Bookstore in South Melbourne.

Can we, Shall we?
One Day, Very Soon, Let us go away together.
Just you and me, Call in sick and go to the sea
And hold hands all day, eat our sandwiches on the train,
Get drunk on fresh air
And come home tired, and never tell anyone....

Ever.

Perfect Weather For Sewing Up A Storm!

Well, as previously mentioned, Melbourne is one chilly city at the moment. Ive been staying indoors more and more as winter sets in, and ive decided its definetly the season to be sewing!

I made a couple of plushies for a friend last week, and also started a tooth series that ive been day dreaming about for a while now....ive named this little molar 'pink eye susan', and the little girl is called 'Poppy'.

This week I was perving on some other clever crafty peoples plushies. I couldnt find the name of the amazing crafter behind these little asian food inspired plushies, so I cant say 'thanks for bringing a massive smile to my face', but I can pass them on to do the same to all you lovelies out there :)

Having Myself A Cosy Little Winter :)

Mmmmmm Winter. Some people hate it, but me, I Love It!
I know, I know, Yes, I complain bitterly about having to venture out and about in it (especially in this last week, Melbourne is getting very very chilly), but truth be known it's my most favorite time of the year.

Winter fashion is the best of the year in my opinion; fingerless gloves (oooooh check out Gaye Abandon's groovy little arm mittens on etsy, or on her website http://www.gayeabandon.com/, they are so very lovely) hoodies, beanies, patterned stockings, lovely wool jumpers, flat boots, and big beautiful pre-loved jackets ....
but lets not forget soup, echinacea, rain on my tin roof and red red wine.

Winter makes me think of Japan, and the winter fashions over there. So amazing! In Tokyo I spent hours in a shop that was full of leggings and stockings in every different shade imaginable, as well as patterns. If only id bought up big time while I was there, I'd totally be set up for this winter! Boooo hooooo. Ahh well November is not too far away, and i'll set aside some extra 'stocking funds' this time around :)

“Let us love winter, for it is the spring of genius”

Road Kill Toys - wrong has never been so right!

Ok....so I first saw some photos of these on an email, and later tried to find out more about these amazing plushies by typing 'intestines road kill plush' into Google....please dont make that mistake, its not pretty what results google kindly finds for you in under 3 seconds (ewwww)....so ive made it easy for you, simply go to http://www.roadkilltoys.com/

So far Adam, Mike and Charlie (who describe themselves as 'toy terrorists') have created three lovable squashed-plush characters; Twitch, Grind and Splodge.
Each comes complete with plastic body bag to keep out the maggots, and an identity tag on toe, giving the details of its demise.
My favorite is Twitch (above) a raccoon, who was run over by a milk float last Thursday, near the Hangar Lane Giratory system in London. Poor little Twitch!
There's something so very wrong, but Ohhhhh so right about road-kill-toys....and I Want One!!

I Think Im Turning Japanese, I Think Im Turning Japanese, I Really Think So

Well...only 7 weeks after getting home from my last overseas trip...i've booked another one, yay! Even though I had promised myself to not take on the stress of saving for atleast another 6 months, I just couldnt say no to some super cheap flights to Japan....so YES, im doing it again.
Some of my friends are confused as to why I am so obsessed with Japan, here are just a few reasons, in no particular order (there are hundreds more believe me!)

VENDING MACHINES

While the majority of machines in Japan are stocked with drinks, snacks, and cigarettes, one occasionally finds vending machines selling items such as booze, fried food, undies, ipods, potted plants and.....ummmm.....even lubricant! Japan now has one machine for every 23 people....and thats alot!

SNOW MONKEYS

You wont find these guys anywhere else in the World! Up high in the hills past Nagano, you'll come across these amazing little fella's. Day in, day out, they bathe in the hot springs. The little baby ones are the cutest things imaginable! They live just a short trip from Yudanaka, at Jigokudani Yaen-koen (if you're heading up there stay at Uotoshi Ryokan - they have hot corn soup in there vending machine for just 100yen, haha!)

MIYAZAKI

Impossible not to love! Miyazaki is a legend, and has been termed the 'Walt Disney' of Japan.
You can visit his museum (Ghibli Museum) in Mitaka, just outside Tokyo. There is a giant Totoro to meet you, and a giant Cat Bus inside. Its so much fun! :)

KATSU DON

Mmmmmmmmm Scrummy! Japanese curry with fried chicken or pork schnitzel. You can usually pick up a delicious, and very large bowl for under ten bucks....yummo.

KAPIBARA SAN
(and other Japanese Plush Toys)

Even though mass produced, once you pick one of these little guys up, theres not walking out of the store without the exchange of a few hundred yen! (Dont say I didnt warn you).
